The Water Cup
Purpose:
To help you challenge the belief that you weren’t “good enough.”
Instructions:
Grab a plastic cup and draw a line near the top.
Then, poke a few small holes in the bottom.
Now, fill the cup with water up to the line.
See how long you can keep the water at that level.
Here’s the catch:
You’re not allowed to plug the holes.
The only thing you can do is keep pouring more water in.
Pay attention to:
– How messy it gets
– How exhausting it feels
– How much effort it takes to keep it full
Imagine doing this 24/7 for the rest of your life.
Imagine what it would cost you.
Final Thoughts:
That’s what being in a narcissistic relationship is like.
It doesn’t matter how much you give, it will never be enough.
They don’t hold your care, effort, and love, they consume it.
So you were never the problem.
You were enough.
The problem was the holes, not the water.
