Killing the Fantasy


Step 1:

Take out a piece of paper and draw two columns labeled Fantasy and Reality.

Step 2:

In the Fantasy column, write down what you hoped the relationship was or could be.

Step 3:

In the Reality column, write down what the relationship was like most of the time.

Step 4:

Save this chart somewhere you can easily access it, and when you feel the pull of the fantasy come back, take it out and read the Reality column.

Pro Tip:

If you’re having a hard time letting go of the fantasy, a lot of people have found it helpful to add a History Log to Step Four of this exercise.
