Checking the Guilt

Step One:

The next time you feel guilty, fill out the following:

I feel guilty about _ because _.

Step Two:

Guilt is the feeling that you’ve done something wrong.

Have you actually done something wrong?

Pro Tip:

If you’re struggling here, look at what you wrote in Step One and imagine someone you love shared it with you.

Would you say they’ve genuinely done something wrong given the circumstances?

Step Three:

I will _.

Guidelines:

1.) If you’ve done something wrong:

Your “I will” should help you make things right.

Example:

“I will apologize and take responsibility for what I’ve done.”

2.) If you haven’t done anything wrong:

Your “I will” should help you adjust how you think, speak, or act accordingly.

Example:

“I will stick with my original decision.”
