Connected

Purpose:

To help you feel connected to the loved ones you’ve become estranged from.

Instructions:

Step 1: Create a Private Email Account

Create a separate email account (e.g., Gmail) just for this person.

You can title it something like: letters.to.[Name]@gmail.com.

Step 2: Write to Them Regularly

From your main email, send messages to this private inbox.

Think of it like a letter box — a space to share what you wish you could say to them.

Guidelines:

1.) Do not send or share this with them yet. (See “Final Thoughts”)

2.) Keep everything positive.

This is important because if you don’t (e.g. try to get them to see through the narcissist’s lies), it could potentially turn them off to wanting to communicate further.

Example Topics to Write About:

– A positive memory you have of them that still makes you smile
– A life update you wish they could hear (e.g. a new job, something you’re proud of)
– Something you learned recently that reminded you of them
– A moment you felt grateful for the role they once played in your life
– A quote, book, or song that made you think of them in a good way
– A kind thought or wish you’d want them to know you still hold
– Something small that happened in your day you’d normally have shared with them

Final Thoughts:

If/when you get to reconnect with them, you can offer them the password to this email account and let them read everything you wished you could have said over the weeks, months, or years.
