Trust Issues

Definition:

You struggle to trust or rely on others.

What to Do:

1.) You need to identify what’s causing your trust issues.

2.) You need to define what a trustworthy person looks like to you.

3.) You need to use that criteria to practice trusting people in small ways.

4.) You need to increase your trust when people meet your criteria and reduce it when they don’t

Why:

When you know the cause of your trust issues, you get a better idea of what you need to focus on when practicing and how to reduce your exposure to the things that trigger it.

Trust issues are a normal human experience.

But some people are better at responding to them than others.

There are many reasons for this, one of them being narcissistic abuse.

If you’ve experienced it, you may struggle with trust issues more than someone who hasn’t.

But don’t think of it as something that’s “wrong” with you, because it isn’t.

It’s a skill you get to build, not a flaw you have to carry.

And skills are something anyone can build with practice.

Your trust issues aren’t going to disappear overnight.

So it’s important to use healthy coping strategies when it comes up.

That way you can move through it instead of getting stuck in it.
